The global inflation scenario and the prospect of recession in some of the largest economies on the planet have contaminated forecasts about the performance of the global economy for the coming year. As a result, the so-called “big techs” had to review their expansion plans, and one of the results was the recent wave of job cuts in the sector.
The option to reduce costs is a reflection of worse than expected results for the technology giants in recent months. By the end of October, shares of eight big techs, including Apple, Google, Amazon and Netflix, had lost about $3.6 trillion in market value. Despite this, the shares of companies in the sector remain on the list of the most traded by Brazilians.
In this episode of E Tem Mais, Roberta Russo presents an overview of expectations about the future of big techs after the recent wave of layoffs announced in the United States.
To provide an overview of what to expect from the technology giants in the coming years, journalist Rafael Coimbra, executive editor of the MIT Technology Review publication and professor at FGV, and ESPM professor of administration and entrepreneurship Letícia Menegon participate in this episode.
