Technology helped open conversation about UFOs, says former Pentagon officer

Former commander of the United States Department of Defense Department, Luis Elizondo, said in an interview with CNN that the advance and democratization of technology have helped to demystify discussions about unidentified flying objects (UFOs).

The former Pentagon Officer defended the thesis that today it is possible to acquire information faster and in greater volume than we were able to do a few decades ago. Today, everything is in the palm and available on the internet, and popular equipment is able to produce images that were once restricted to a few organs.

“We have technology in our hands to take photos using devices that only 10 years ago we didn’t have this capacity as now,” said Elizondo.

“When I went to school, if I wanted to learn about something, I would have to go to a library and would have to read a book. And it is likely that the book was over 20 years old and perhaps some pages were missing. Nowadays, in 5 seconds, your generation can access all the information that exists in the world and in virtually all the languages of the country and the planet.

The American also gives merit to new generations, which are much more open to talking about UFOs with a scientific approach, far from social taboos.

“The younger generation is much more open to the discussion of the reality that intelligent life can exist in our cosmos. Now we realize that we live in an unimaginably large and complex universe and we are beginning to see signs that there is potentially life on other planets,” he said.

“It’s a combination of a generation more willing to accept a new reality and the fact that technology has improved and is more widespread now than ever.”

“Imminent – the backstage of the Pentagon hunt for the Ovnis” is a book that portrays Luis Elizondo’s journey in charge of the United States Department of Defense Department. Published in Brazil by Harper Collins and launched in April, he brings details about the studies conducted by Elizondo’s team and his efforts to give visibility to the theme, which still faced strong pressures motivated by religion and US companies in the aerospace.
