In mid-December last year, Tecno announced sensor-shift image stabilization technology for camera modules that are installed in smartphones. Then the company said that this is just one of three innovations that will appear in its future smartphones. The second development, as it turned out, was a telescopic macro lens, which is designed to significantly improve not only the quality of macro photography, but also the photographing process itself.
The telephoto macro lens extends from the body of the smartphone and allows you to zoom in without getting too close to the subject. It provides 5x optical zoom, and the end result, according to the company, is on par with the capabilities of the main sensor. This is something that previously could not be achieved using macro cameras. In addition, the technology allows the use of a large aperture, which is very important for high-quality photographs.
Tecno claims that the camera’s design is quite compact and shouldn’t affect the thickness of the smartphone. The company did not disclose other details, including when it is approximately worth expecting the appearance of devices with a new macro camera. But this should happen already this year.
