A teenager was apprehended by the police this Tuesday (11), in the municipality of Maquiné, in the north of Rio Grande do Sul, suspected of planning an attack on a school in the region.
According to information from the Secretary of Public Security of RS, Sandro Caron, a police investigation was initiated and a search and seizure warrant was requested.
Also according to the secretariat, in the minor’s residence was found “plenty of material alluding to Nazism and other extremist ideological positions, bladed weapons, simulacra of firearms and cell phones”.
The charge against him is “an offense analogous to crimes of criminal organization and preparatory acts for terrorism”. The teenager’s parents were arrested red handed.
“Due to being caught in flagrante delicto, the parents were arrested in flagrante delicto. We will proceed with the investigation based on the analysis of the seized materials. I reinforce here that the arrest of the parents took place for the crimes of corruption of minors, criminal association and racism, due to the material alluding to Nazism found in the residence”.
Finally, the SSP of Rio Grande do Sul reported that it has been working with other public institutions to monitor possible threats against schools.
“The SSP of Rio Grande do Sul has been working together with the Department of Education and the State Public Ministry to monitor possible threats against schools. The intelligences also monitor social networks, also messages via the application, demonstrations that may contain threats to schools in the State”.
