Jacob Stevens was in his room with some friends when they decided to try the Benadryl Challenge, which they apparently saw other guys do on TikTok. His friends were recording the moment Jacob ingested 12 to 14 antihistamine pills, a medicine used to treat allergies or colds.

According to the noxious challenge, the boy would experience hallucinations, but due to the overdose, Jacob began to convulse. The boy was in the hospital for a week connected to an artificial ventilator, but nothing could be done, since he was brain dead. All these details were provided by the young man’s family in an interview for ABC6.

Justin Stevens, the young man’s father, mentioned that he felt that time stopped when medical personnel informed him that his son would never wake up.

Without brain activity, there was nothing there. They said we could keep him in the vent so he could lie there, but he would never open his eyes, never breathe, smile, walk or talk.

Justin admitted that he cried when he saw the loving messages that people wrote for his son, but he also mentioned that he will dedicate his life to trying to get different measures approved and applied to prevent this tragedy from happening again.

But, above all, Justin asked parents to be attentive to what their children are doing on their phones, to talk with them, as he assured that this is the main reason why they, as a family, decided to tell their painful story. and even for this reason they dared to share the strong image of their son in the hospital.
