Iran is seeking a “serious and fair” nuclear agreement with the United States, said today, on the eve of unprecedented talks between the two countries, the senior adviser to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Ali Samhani. The purpose of these talks is to negotiate a new agreement on the Iranian nuclear program. US President Donald Trump has left open the possibility of resorting to military action in the event of a failure. “Tehran avoids doing a show and talking to the cameras, but seeks a serious and fair deal,” Samhani said. The previous agreement, concluded in 2015 between Iran and the Great Powers, became inactive after unilaterally withdrawal of the United States in 2018, during Trump’s first term. US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Steve Witkov and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aragsi will take part in discussions that will take place tomorrow at the Oman Sultanate. Source: RES
