Israel has been plagued for decades with conflicts between Israelis and Palestiniansbut in a district located in Tel AvivJews and Muslims live harmoniously, setting the example for an end to hostilities.
This is Jaffa, a predominantly Arab suburb known as a “mixed community” and famous for its architecture and charm.
However, what many don’t know is that the two Middle Eastern rivals have managed to live harmoniously together for years, seeing themselves as an example of a Middle East solution.
“Arabs and Israelis are our neighbors and friends. They have invited us to their homes and we reciprocated,” he says in ctvnews.ca Canadian Alec Burkin, who lives in the area. “Jaffa is an example of how Jewish and Arab Israelis can live together peacefully“, he then adds.
Also, Palestinian Rula Daood who is a resident of the area, says that “the act of war does not work…. Hamas does not speak for me, I do not believe in killing innocent people. Innocent people are dying on both sides and I think we have to break that blood chain.”
According to local residents a political solution can be found and mainly on the part of Israel which is the strongest factor, however no political leadership on either side wants it.
