Teledyne SP Devices, a division of Teledyne Technologies, has announced the launch of a 4th generation modular data acquisition board optimized for high performance applications. The board is called the ADQ32, and its high performance is provided by the programmable gate array (FPGA) and high-speed interface.
The board uses a dual-channel 12-bit converter that supports synchronous sampling at up to 2.5 Gsamples per second in each channel. According to the manufacturer, the ADQ32 is well-suited for applications such as source frequency modulated optical coherence tomography (SS-OCT), time-of-flight mass spectrometry (ToF MS), and distributed fiber-optic sensing (DOFS).

Application-specific digital signal processing can be performed in real time on the Xilinx Kintex Ultrascale KU040 FPGA, allowing signal characterization and insight to be extracted. Initial processing also allows data to be reduced to match the sustained PCIe Gen3 x8 bandwidth of approximately 7 GB / s. The data can be sent for further processing to the central processing unit or GPU. This architecture is said to provide great flexibility and allow the developer to use the most appropriate resources for a specific task.
In addition to high streaming rates and computational flexibility, the ADQ32 also boasts good analog performance, including a wide dynamic range. System-level integration is simplified with hardware triggering, internal or external signal source selection, and GPIO lines.
