Telegram Adds New Ways to Earn Toncoin

Yesterday, August 14, Telegram turned 11 years old. In honor of this, the developers rolled out an update – several ways to earn Toncoin (TON) cryptocurrency appeared in the popular messenger.

Telegram developers presented a festive update“to thank the community” of the messenger.

New ways of monetization in Telegram

One of the new features is star reactions. With their help, users can support their favorite channels and content creators by sending them Telegram Stars. All you need to do is leave a star reaction to a post.

Channel owners receive 100% of the stars. They can then exchange them for a reward in Toncoin and use them to pay for advertising at a discount.

“Each message with star reactions displays a list of users who have sent the most stars for it. If a user does not want to appear in the rating, they can hide their name when sending a reaction,” the developers added.

Another new feature is the ability to create special invite links for Telegram Stars. Content creators can now offer their subscribers exclusive access to additional content, VIP broadcasts, or early releases for a monthly fee in stars.

The update also expands the functionality for monetizing channels using bots. Through these bots, connected to business profiles, Telegram channel owners can publish paid photos and videos.

However, the key point of the Telegram upgrade is the ability to exchange Telegram Stars for Toncoin with almost no commission.

The messenger team presented its internal currency in early June this year. Telegram founder Pavel Durov noted that Telegram Stars are intended for paying for digital goods and services within the messenger ecosystem.

Stars can be purchased through in-app purchases in Apple and Google apps or through PremiumBot. And exchange for TON – through the Fragment platform.

It is important to note that Telegram Stars is not a cryptocurrency. Stars are not traded on any exchange. The developers have no plans to list assets on trading platforms.

Earlier, Durov said that Telegram would soon have an app store (Mini Apps) and a built-in browser with Web3 support.
