Telegram has updated its terms of use and privacy policy for the Brazilian region with a clause on the prohibition of child abuse and participation in illegal activities related to terrorism. Under the new rules, the service will disclose IP data to the authorities if “Telegram receives a court order from a democratic country such as Brazil regarding the use of Telegram’s public platform for activities prohibited by the Terms of Use.” This is reported by the profile portal Telegram Info.
Recall that in March the messenger was on the verge of being blocked in Brazil – on the 18th, the country’s Supreme Court ruled to ban access to Telegram, however, in connection with Pavel Durov’s subsequent appeal and his apology, the authorities withdrew this decision. Then the creator of the service wrote that the developers did not at all refuse to comply with the requirements of the Brazilian government. On the contrary, they fulfilled their obligations, but the report about this could be lost after sending, and further letters from the authorities with additional requests came to the old email address, which is why the messenger team simply did not see them.
