The foreign ministers of Russia and Turkey discussed holding another tripartite meeting of the Turkish-Syrian-Russian foreign ministers in a telephone call today, Turkish state broadcaster TRT Haber reported, adding that the meeting may take place in the second half of January.
The Russian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the two ministers discussed the situation in Syria in their telephone conversation.
In a sign of normalizing relations between Ankara and Damascus, the Turkish defense minister and Turkey’s intelligence chief met their Syrian counterparts in Moscow on Wednesday in a trilateral meeting also attended by Russian officials, marking the first such meeting in a decade war in Syria.
The three sides agreed to continue the meetings, the Turkish Defense Ministry said after Wednesday’s meeting.
