The City of São Paulo announced that it will create 2,000 more shelter spaces for homeless people in the social assistance network –in addition to the 15,116 that already exist– during the coldest nights and set up ten tents to serve the homeless population whenever the temperature is below 10°C.

13 vehicles will also be acquired that will be used by teams that carry out the social approach during the night and dawn, aiming to give greater agility to the service of notifications that arrive through Service 156. There will be the acquisition of animal transport cages, the hiring of new 56 socio-educational counselors to carry out the social approach, the distribution of blankets, soups and hot drinks, and overnight transport at the Shelter Centers.

This year, there will also be an active search during the night and dawn for homeless residents who wish to spend the night in Reception Centers from 10pm to 7am.

In the service tents set up by São Paulo Turismo (SPTuris), there will be blankets, soups, hot drinks, and referrals to the Welcome Centers. Two ambulances will also be available for each tent in Praça da Sé.
