Temporary checks on the border with Germany and Lithuania are imposed by Poland today

Temporary border controls are imposed by Poland today on its borders with Germany and Lithuania, Prime Minister Donald Tusk said today. This measure is “necessary to limit, to reduce these uncontrolled flow -controlled flows”, the “immigrants”, Tusk told reporters. The announcement was made after a meeting of the Council of Ministers. It follows the recent reinforcement of border controls by Germany, which was imposed after the new German government, led by the Conservatives, took over in May. In the context of this policy, German border officials have taken the directive to deny entry into irregular migrants -even those seeking asylum -, a measure that has been criticized by Poland. The German government plans to insist on this practice, even after a court ruling that has banned the rejection of asylum seekers at the border. Source: RES
