THE National Archives released new reports made by Brazilian pilots to the Integrated Air Defense and Air Traffic Control Centers (Cindactas) regarding sightings of Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOs) . Last year alone, around 30 reports were made to the agency, which is linked to the Brazilian Air Force (FAB).
According to the files made available, most of the records were made in the southern region of the country, especially in Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina.
In one of the reports, filed on February 7th of last year, the pilot of an aircraft says he saw, at around 3am, a red and green light in a circular shape the size of a small to large ball (varying) “. He indicated that the object was flying.”ten times faster than a commercial airliner “. The sighting occurred in Navegantes, on the coast of Santa Catarina.
“The pilot reported that this occurrence is similar to other episodes that occurred in October 2022 in the same sector and have already been reported,” the document says.
On April 20, a pilot reported seeing a stationary UFO at around 9:30 p.m., as he was approaching for landing at Porto Alegre airport (RS). According to the report, the object also grew and shrank and was white/orange in color.
“This week, the observer reports that this is the fourth day he has observed such an object,” says the Cindacta record.
Another aviation professional, who was flying to Santa Catarina, reported that at around 2 am on January 21, while flying over the city of Ilha Comprida in São Paulo, he saw four or five objects with flashing white lights at a long distance. The speed, according to him, was “very fast”: “At least 8 mach [oito vezes a velocidade do som] “.
The objects, as reported, made circular movements “sometimes forming a circle, approaching and distancing one from the other “.
“The surprise was due to the lights/movement of the objects not corresponding to a satellite, space junk or any other known phenomenon,” he stated.
On February 5, an airline pilot who was flying between Belo Horizonte (MG) and Porto Alegre reported that, on approach to Salgado Filho airport, in the capital of Rio Grande do Sul, he saw five to six objects whose sizes, in his words, were similar to airfield lights.
He reported that the jet was flying at an altitude of about 38,000 feet (about 11,600 meters) and that the UFOs were flying “a hand and a half above” the aircraft at “three or four times the speed of sound.”
In April, another airline pilot flying the Brasília/Marabá (PA) route said that, around midnight, he saw a “whiteish-yellow light, like an airplane landing light, rotating counterclockwise.” The object “was above his flight level” – at 34,000 feet.
“The observer was flying the aircraft on the Sinop route [MT]-Campinas [SP]FL 390 [a 39 mil pés] when he spotted the UFO on his horizon, 20º above. According to the observer, well above FL 400 [nível de 40 mil pés]. The object made circular movements and was shaped like a star or a lighthouse. emitted white light and sometimes had a reddish shade of color,” says another report.
A pilot flying over the city of Belém (PA) at around 6:40 am on August 23 said he saw two strange star-shaped objects. When recording the scene, he said he tried to film the situation, but the object did not appear in the videos or photos.
The FAB informs that “all documents, videos, photographs, reports, among others, available, within the scope of the Air Force Command, on unidentified aerial phenomena, in the period from 1952 to 2023, have already been transferred to the National Archives, where they are in the public domain”.
“In addition, the Air Force Command informs that it does not carry out studies and analyses on the subject, it only catalogues the information provided by third parties and periodically sends it to the National Archives”, says the FAB.
THE CNN sought out Latam and Azul, since the airline pilots who reported to Cindacta are from these companies.
Azul said that its crew “follow the strictest safety protocols” and that “any eventuality is immediately communicated to air traffic control and is subject to investigation by the competent authorities.”
Latam had not commented by the time this report was published.
History
According to the National Archives, the first official record of a UFO sighting in Brazil is from 1952.

The first documentation of the appearance of a UFO in Brazil took place in Barra da Tijuca, in Rio de Janeiro, and was recorded with nine photographic images.

A search of the National Archives’ virtual system reveals that almost 1,000 records related to UFOs have already been made in Brazil. This does not mean that all cases refer to extraterrestrials, as they could be drones, stars, satellites, weather balloons or natural phenomena.
