Three people were killed and at least 14 others were injured after gunfire in Chattanooga, Tennessee (USA), on Sunday (5), with some victims hit by bullets and others by fleeing vehicles, according to local police.
Police responded to reports of a nightclub shooting shortly before 2:45 a.m. local time, Jeremy Eames, a spokesman for the Chattanooga Police Department, told CNN . Police officers found several victims when they arrived and began providing medical assistance.
In all, 14 people were shot while another three were run over by vehicles trying to flee the scene, Eames said. Among the three deaths, two resulted from gunshot wounds and one resulted from injuries sustained after the victim was hit by a vehicle, he said.
Police believe several shooters were involved. No suspects are arrested.
The motive for the shooting is unclear, but authorities believe the shooting was an isolated incident “in which one or more of the victims were targeted”.
