Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz is hoping to capitalize on his powerful serve at Wimbledon over the next two weeks as he announces his intention to donate €100 to the Ukraine relief effort for every player he hits.
“I am pledging to donate 100 euros for every player that hits Wimbledon to help support the people of Ukraine. Hope my loot works well! #acesforaid,” he announced on Twitter and Instagram. Hurkacz, 25, often voices his support for the Ukrainian people.

“My heart goes out to Ukraine,” he wrote on Instagram in February, captioning a photo of himself at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships and a photo of the Ukrainian and Polish flags raised side by side in the crowd.
At almost 2 meters high, Hurkacz’s serve is the basis of his game. So far this season, he has hit 452 aces in 39 games – an average of more than 11 per game – and the third-highest number on the ATP Tour, behind only John Isner and Reilly Opelka.
At Wimbledon last year, his serve was displayed in full force in a run to the semi-finals that included 54 aces in his six matches, before being defeated by Matteo Berrettini.
Hurkacz begins his tournament this Monday (27) with a first-round match against Spanish Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
The 25-year-old arrives at SW19 excited to claim his first title of the year – and his first on grass – last week at the Terra Wortmann Open, after beating world number 1 Daniil Medvedev 6-1 6-4 at Final.
Russia’s Medvedev will not compete at Wimbledon this year after tournament organizers banned Russian and Belarusian players following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The ATP (Professional Tennis Association) and WTA (Women’s Tennis Association) retaliated by removing the points from the Grand Slam rankings.
