Egypt counts at least 32 dead and 108 injured in the horrific train crash in the Sohag area today.
The announcement was made by the country’s Ministry of Health, noting that immediately after the collision, 72 ambulances arrived in the area to transport the injured to the nearest hospitals.
In a message on his Facebook page, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi categorically stressed that the causes of the accident will be punished by example, while expressing condolences to the families of the victims, promising to compensate them.
Prime Minister Mustafa Madbuli and five ministers, including the ministers of health and transport, are in the region to monitor closely the measures taken to deal with the fatal accident, according to the Athens News Agency. Prime Minister Mandbuli stressed that there would be zero tolerance for the causes, who vowed to be held accountable.

An investigation has already been launched into the fatal collision that occurred when a train on the Luxor-Alexandria line the emergency brake was activated by strangers, forcing the train to stop and be hit by another train on the Aswan-Cairo route, causing the train carriages to derail, causing death and injuries.

A Technical Committee has been set up by the Ministry of Transport to determine the causes of the accident, with efforts being made to resume train traffic on the line.
