Its civil aviation service Paraguay an investigation has been launched today into LATAM Airlines flight LA1325, whose captain was forced to make an emergency landing after discovering that the nose of the aircraft was disintegrating in the midst of a severe storm.
The Airbus A320 belonging to the aforementioned airline’s subsidiary in Paraguay (LATAM Airlines Paraguay) encountered extreme weather late Wednesday night while flying from Asuncion to Santiago, Chile.
Videos posted on social media show the terrifying moments for passengers as the plane jolts and lightning flashes from the windows.
As reported by the APE-MPE, the plane returned to the capital of Paraguay and landed safely, without any injuries among the passengers and crew members. However, the images of the disintegrated nose and the cracks in the cockpit glass are shocking.
The head of Paraguay’s civil aviation agency (DINAC) said the plane encountered an “unprecedented storm”.
LATAM plane landed in Asunción, with damage to the windshield, radome (located in the nose) and an engine, according to information published by different media (unofficial).

For its part, the airline emphasized that “passengers and crew members are fine” and that the Airbus A320 was forced to make an emergency landing around 11:00 p.m. (local time) due to “extreme weather conditions.”
