Terror in the air: Aircraft engine catches fire on flight from Edinburgh to New York

Disturbance prevailed in flight from Edinburgh to New York, as the plane’s engine seized firecausing it to make an emergency landing at the airport.

In accordance with bbc.com who also released a feature video, Delta Airlines flight DAL209 bound for New York was quickly diverted to land at Prestwick after engine problems.

A BBC Scotlant News reporter who was on the flight said “the plane took off and there was a loud noise from the engine, similar to the sound heard on take-off and landing, but it seemed to continue when we were in the air”.

“Soon we realized we were about to land. When the plane landed we saw fire engines running towards us. They told us to leave all our belongings and leave as fast as we could,” he added afterwards.
