Eleven people were injured in severe turbulence during a Lufthansa flight from Buenos Aires to Frankfurt as the plane traveled over the Atlantic, the German carrier said today. “Unfortunately, five passengers and six crew members suffered – mostly – minor injuries,” a Lufthansa spokesman told Reuters, confirming a report by the German news agency dpa. “The safety of the flight was not compromised at any time,” the spokesman added. The injured received medical treatment immediately after the plane landed safely at its scheduled destination at 10:53 a.m. today, according to the airline. The Boeing 747-8 was carrying 329 passengers and 19 crew members. The turbulence was short-lived and occurred in an intratropical convergence zone, the company said.
