Terror in the US: Car crashes into people at Christmas parade in Wisconsin – Watch the videos

At least 20 people were injured when Red SUV fell on people who participated in parade in view of Christmas yesterday Sunday in the city Wokesa, in the state Wisconsin, announced the city police chief, Dan Thompson.

Mr. Thompson told reporters that a person of interest has been identified in the investigation, without going into details.

According to the police chief, the car was recovered.

A local television reporter who is part of the national CBS network said that at least one person lost his life in the tragedy.

Earlier, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and other local media reported that a car crashed into people attending a Christmas parade in Wokesa, some 30 miles (32 km) from Milwaukee, injuring several people.

The video

In video posted on social networking sites, the SUV is depicted moving fast towards the ears of people parading.

In a second video, police officers are shown shooting at the car before falling on bars set up for the parade.

The incident occurred shortly before 17:00 (local time; 01:00 Greek time), according to Journal Sentinel.

An eyewitness said, according to AMPE, that he heard the car crash as it fell on people and then screams and screams of the victims.

The Wokesa police chief speaks of “dead” and 23 injured

The car that crashed into a crowd attending or watching a Christmas parade in Wokessa, Wisconsin (north) caused deaths, while 11 adults and 12 children were hospitalized, announced the city police chief, Dan Thompson.

He noted that the order given to citizens in the city center to seek the nearest shelter has now been lifted.

Mr Thompson confirmed that at least one police officer had opened fire on the red SUV. He added that as far as he knows, there was no fire inside the vehicle.

Earlier, authorities in the city of Wokessa, Wisconsin, called on people in its center to seek the nearest shelter after the injuries.

It is unclear why the order was issued, which Reuters was unable to independently confirm. Earlier, Wookessa Police Chief Dan Thompson said the car that crashed into protesters had been recovered, that the scene was now safe and no other threats were considered.

Wokessa-based Carroll University has announced it is on a lockdown.

The injured were taken to hospital by ambulance, patrol cars and cars of relatives and friends.

A woman told local television station Fox6 that the SUV had hit schoolgirls 9 to 15 years old, members of a dance group that participated in the parade. There was silence at first, then screams were heard and people rushed to the spot to offer help, according to Fox6.
