‘Terrorism’ was the motive of the suspect who attacked passers-by with a knife in Rotterdam

The man who launched a knife attack in Rotterdam on Thursday night, killing one man and injuring a second, may have had “terrorist motives”, according to Dutch prosecutors The 22-year-old, originally from Amersfoot, stabbed and wounded the first victim in a parking lot under the Erasmus Bridge. He then walked onto the pavement and killed another man. Passers-by and police stopped him and arrested him. The prosecutor’s office announced that he was being prosecuted for murder and attempted murder with a terrorist motive. Before the attack, the young man allegedly shouted “Allahu Akbar”, meaning “God is great”, in Arabic several times. However, prosecutors did not rule out the possibility of another motive. The suspect lived in Amersfoot, a town about 80 kilometers from Rotterdam. Eyewitnesses said he was carrying two large knives and chose his victims at random. Source: RES
