Terrorist attacks aim to stabilize the world’s energy supply

The Ministry of Energy of Saudi Arabia announced on Monday that a fuel transport ship in Jeddah port suffered a terrorist attack, Reuters reported, citing Saudi state media.

According to a ministry official, the attack resulted in a small fire, which had been successfully extinguished.

“The incident did not result in casualties, there was no damage to the unloading facilities or any effect on the supplies,” the official said. “Terrorist acts against vital facilities are aimed at the security and stability of the world’s energy supply.”

Market reaction

These comments do not appear to be affecting crude oil’s performance on Monday. At time of writing, a barrel of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) was up 1.3% on the day at $ 47.17.
