A state judge in California said yesterday that he is likely to reject Tesla Inc’s request to drop a lawsuit filed by the state’s civil rights agency accusing the electric vehicle maker of widespread racial discrimination in a its factory unit.
California Superior Court Judge Evelio Grillo in Oakland, in a preliminary written ruling, rejected Tesla’s claims that the lawsuit could be unmanageable because it involves thousands of workers and that the state Department of Civil Rights (CRD) failed to warn the company for all related allegations, before the lawsuit was filed in February.
During yesterday’s court hearing, Grillo said he needed more time to make a final decision, according to a Tesla spokesman.
