Tesla is suing engineer Alex Khatilov for stealing WARP Drive proprietary software used to automate procurement and other business tasks.
According to the electric vehicle manufacturer, barely starting work at the end of December 2020, Khatilov copied thousands of scripts for WARP Drive to a personal Dropbox account, which was not available to the company, and this action was not related to the performance of his work duties. The lawsuit notes that only a limited number of employees have access to the scripts, the development of which “took years”.
The company also accused Khatilov of trying to hide the traces of the crime and warned that not all of the attacker’s actions could be disclosed. She is seeking damages to be determined in court and an injunction barring the defendant from sharing any information with other parties.
