Tesla Urges Employees For Suggestions To Improve The Vehicle Production Output As S/X Models Production Halts

The employees of Tesla received an email from the company, stating that the production lines for Model S Sedan and Model X SUV will be shut down for 18 days. The holiday period will begin from 24th December till 11th January 2021. In the email, the company asked the employees to take this opportunity to have a good time with their family, and that the employees will receive the salary for one week of the holidays. In the remaining days, the employees can avail some limited paid opportunities in other shops or they can choose to volunteer for car deliveries during their free days while exploring other sectors of the company.

The CEO of Tesla, Elon Musk sent a separate email to the employees.

The same day, a separate email from Elon Musk came in which he told the employees that this is a fortunate situation that the company is facing a problem of increased demand of cars in retrospect of production rate during the third quarter of 2020. However, it is now time to buck up and provide the best possible customer service with improved production output. He urged his employees to send him a separate, personal note if they have any suggestions on ways to improve the car production output. This is important because Tesla needs to fasten up its production rate to win back the trust of the customers and investors who have placed their faith and money in the company’s luxury vehicles.

Despite high demand, Elon Musk’s decision to halt the production lines of the S/X Models is surprising.

It probably means that these older, high-ended S and X Models are probably not that much in demand. Perhaps the halt in their production lines is to redirect the focus and energies of the employees on the other models that are probably more in demand like the Models 3 and Y. However, this is just a speculation because Tesla has not given any clear reason for this decision of theirs, and what good will an eighteen-days shutdown would do?

Tesla announced refunds for repairs in the computers of some cars from the lines of Model S and X in November.

Back in November, due to some complaints about the touchscreens and computer systems in some of the S and X cars, Tesla notified its customers that it will refund them for any repairs they had to get done from their own pockets. This warranty expansion and refund offer were to prevent all the hassle of possible recalls, or settlements, and lawsuits.
