Tesla has canceled the fastest and most expensive variant of its flagship sedan, the Model S Plaid Plus, as reported by CEO Elon Musk on Sunday.
Earlier Tesla and Musk promised fans a 1,100-horsepower power plant, a range of 840 km, acceleration from 0 to 96 km / h in less than 2 seconds and a top speed of 320 km / h. Elon Musk wrote the following on his page:
Plaid + is canceled. It is not necessary because the Model S Plaid is already very good. 0 to 60 mph in less than 2 seconds. The fastest production car ever built.
Tesla raised the price of the Model S Plaid Plus by $ 10,000 in March, bringing it to $ 150,000. The option to order the Model S Plaid Plus variant was removed from Tesla’s website around the last week of May.
The remaining high-end version of the Model S Plaid will cost about $ 119,900 and will have a battery with a range of 627 km and a capacity of 1020 hp. and acceleration from 0 to 96 km in 2 seconds.
Musk had previously planned a ceremony to “deliver” the Model S Plaid to first customers on June 3. As the date approached, he postponed it until June 10, saying the car still needed “one more week of refinement.”
Tesla Model S Plaid went down in history as the fastest production car that ever existed.
