Tesla Cybertruck became a super hit: the car was ordered by more than a million people

Tesla unveiled the Cybertruck back in November 2019, immediately opening pre-orders for as little as $ 100. This allowed the company to set several records and surpass the 1 million pre-order mark.

CEO Elon Musk announced that Tesla had received over 250,000 orders for the Cybertruck within a week of the car’s unveiling. By comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning had 44,000 pre-orders in 48 hours.

Even during the pandemic, Tesla continued to carry hundreds of orders for Cybertruck per week. In June last year, the company announced it had passed the 650,000 pre-order mark. Now a million people have lined up behind the car. 48% chose the twin-engine version, 44.5% preferred the three-electric version and only 7.5% of those booked ordered the basic single-engine version.

Tesla Cybertruck starts at $ 39,900, while the three-engine version will cost $ 69,900. Tesla is trying to get the Cybertruck into production by the end of this year, with two more expensive versions hitting the market first with a range of 480 to 800 km.

Real vehicle deliveries could be delayed until 2022 as Tesla is still building the Texas Gigafactory, where the Cybertruck will be manufactured.
