Tesla has announced that it will offer free recharging during off-peak hours during the holidays to reduce queues at charging stations.
Holidays have always been a tough test for the Tesla Supercharger network. After the launch of the Model 3, owners faced excessive waiting times to recharge on the Supercharger. Since then, Tesla has been experimenting with discounts to encourage people to recharge during off-peak hours.
Sometimes this bears fruit, but from time to time there are long lines at some stations, and waiting times become a real problem. For these holidays, Tesla decided not to cut prices, but to make charging free of charge at certain times.

Tesla originally did it in California and is now expanding the program to more states and charging stations. The company announced that Tesla Superchargers will be free until 10:00 a.m. and after 7:00 p.m. at 76 stations in multiple states from Thursday, December 23 through Sunday, December 26.
