Tesla has received a “conditional license” to start production of its electric vehicle and associated batteries plant in Gruenheide, Germany, according to the local environment ministry in the German state of Brandenburg, according to Reuters.
The plant, which Tesla began building with temporary licenses before final approval, is expected to be able to produce 500,000 electric vehicles a year, while the battery plant will have a output of 50 gigawatt hours a year – exceeding each of its European competitors at both levels.
According to the German state ministry, the goal is for the final formalities and the fulfillment of the conditions for the operation of the colossal Tesla factory to be completed within the next two weeks.
