Yesterday, a fresh video appeared on YouTube that demonstrates how the autopilot system of the Tesla Model 3 electric car failed in a simple situation, as a result of which the car flew off the road and crashed into a tree.
The situation can be viewed from two sides: someone will say that Elon Musk and Tesla as a whole are to blame. It’s worth noting, however, that the Tesla Model 3 driver used autopilot to drive on a narrow, winding single-lane road with bike lanes and obstacles along the side of the road. At the same time, the driver does not keep his hands on the steering wheel, as required by the description of the Tesla autopilot system.
It is worth noting that the car was moving at a decent speed, just before the turn, Tesla Model 3 accelerated to almost 50 km / h and did not slow down when entering a turn. At the same time, the driver would have enough time to take control and avoid an accident if he kept his hands on the steering wheel.
It’s good that it all ended without casualties, because the Tesla Model 3 could well have made a head-on collision with a scooter, which drove close to meet a few seconds before the car flew off the road.
Tesla has not yet commented on the situation.
