Tesla Model S Plaid sets new record for electric vehicles at Laguna Seca

The Unplugged Performance team announced that the Tesla Model S Plaid, which had previously won the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb race, has set a new record for electric vehicles at the Laguna Seca race track.

Randy Pobst managed to show a time of 1 minute. 28.213s during the TeslaCorsa 16 event, which took place on August 1, 2021. Tesla’s own tests of the Tesla Model S Plaid showed the best time of 1 minute. 29.9 sec

Tesla Model S Plaid sets new record for electric vehicles at Laguna Seca

The Tesla Model S Plaid is now one of the fastest production cars on this track:

  • McLaren Senna (P15) (Randy Pobst) – 1: 27.62
  • Tesla Model S Plaid with racing modifications (Randy Pobst) – 1: 28,213
  • Porsche 911 GT2 RS (991) (Randy Pobst) – 1: 28.30
  • Tesla Model S Plaid (Tesla Tests) – 1: 29.9

The Tesla Model S Plaid is powered by three electric motors (one in the front and two in the rear) with a total output of 1,020 hp. (about 760 kW).
