Tesla recalls more than 11 thousand electric vehicles due to software glitch with brakes

It is noted that the cars have a software glitch associated with the braking system – “false braking.” Simply put, a car can brake for no good reason. The glitch manifested itself after the October 23rd beta update of the Full Self-Driving autopilot disrupted communication between the two chips.

The company documents say problems with automatic emergency braking could increase the risk of a collision.

The company fixed the issue on October 25, and the previous day stopped distributing the incorrect update and disabled emergency braking on cars still using this beta version.

Tesla notes that at the moment there are no reports of accidents or injuries that would have been caused by this failure. Either way, Tesla has decided to recall electric vehicles with the problem.

It is noted that Tesla decided to conduct a recall after a request from the American National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in order to avoid a conflict with the department. The NHTSA noted that car manufacturers are required to recall vehicles for any safety-related issues, and Tesla is well aware of this. A public review allows owners to make sure that all the necessary steps have been taken.
