Electric vehicle maker Tesla has begun testing payments in Dogecoin. The Block writes about this with a link to the company’s website code.
According to developer Tree of Alpha, the payments option in Dogecoin was added for testing about three days ago. He examined the code and concluded that the company was “definitely” going to test it.
In their own trials, Tree of Alpha received the following page with the Dogecoin payment option:
He also discovered a new page “crypto_continue.html” dedicated to handling cryptocurrency payments.
Users found evidence of preparations for accepting cryptocurrency in the Tesla website code back in November. Then it was found to mention the “SHIBA (SBA)” coin, which actually meant Dogecoin, not Shiba Inu (SHIB). In December, Elon Musk confirmed that Tesla was going to sell related products for DOGE, and then “see how it goes.” Tesla started working with bitcoin in March, but soon abandoned the first cryptocurrency, citing concerns about environmental harm.
