Two women protested outside the Tesla booth at this week’s Shanghai International Automobile and Automotive Technology Show. Eyewitnesses said they expressed dissatisfaction with the poor quality of the Tesla cars they bought.
One woman stood on the roof of a Tesla show car and screamed that her car’s braking system was unreliable and that Tesla had let her down. She was removed from the car shortly thereafter by security guards. Both women wore white T-shirts that read “Tesla Brake Failure” and the Tesla logo.
The police said that the woman was taken to the local police station for questioning. Tesla’s booth was later cordoned off and guarded by about 10 guards, according to media reports. A Tesla spokesman told the media that “the police are investigating the case.”
The incident was the latest in a flurry of protests against faulty parts of the Tesla car, especially the brake system. In March, a car owner in Zhengzhou, Henan province in central China, stamped “Tesla brake failure” on his Tesla car while protesting in front of a local Tesla store, repeating repeatedly that Tesla’s faulty brakes nearly killed her family.
