Bad luck has it that the day of the presentation of Cherry Garden it was raining and a cold wind was blowing. Yet the beauty of over 200 young cherry trees planted in land in Sospiro, in the province of Cremona, was intact, almost magical. Slender, but tenacious, these specimens of cherry trees were planted thanks to a joint initiative of Italian Environment Foundation And Treasures of the East, engaged together in actions of support for the environment increasingly threatened and compromised by climate change and process of concreting green spaces. As for Tesori d'Oriente, it is the historic beauty brand of the Sodalis groupthanks to a varied catalog of body creams, bubble baths, candles and iconic perfumes sold at democratic prices (above all White Musk, a bestselling line for years). Founded in 1998, Tesori d'Oriente celebrated 25 years of activity last autumn, joining forces for the occasion with Fondazione Italiana Ambiente, in a synergy of intent. But let's find out more about the Cherry Garden initiative, freshly inaugurated.
Nature, solidarity and inclusion: the Cherry Garden
The location of the Cherry Garden is Sospiro Onlus Foundationa company based in small town of Sospiro, in the province of Cremona. An active reality in provide social-health and outpatient services for approximately 1000 people within the Lombardy Region. There are two Departments directly managed by the Sospiro Foundation: the Department for the Elderly and the Department for the Disabled. This last department offers people with intellectual disabilities and autism an opportunity for social inclusioninvolving them in agricultural work activities coordinated by Cascina San Marco of Tidolo, located a short distance from Sospiro, among green fields and rows of trees. The Cherry Garden initiative fits into this context. Not only will the newly planted trees create a public garden for the inhabitants of Sospirobut the delicious fruits will be harvested by people with disabilities of Cascina San Marco, giving life to solidarity jams prepared with love. The objective of the project supported by Tesori d'Oriente and Fondazione Italiana Ambiente is therefore twofold: if planting new trees is important for counteract the massive construction of the Po Valleyis equally relevant guarantee everyone the opportunity to realize themselves in their lives. And taking care of fruit trees, as the children of Cascina San Marco do every day, has a precious transformative potential for integration and personal growth. Power of Nature.
