Tether vows to turn Swiss city of Lugano into ‘Bitcoin Capital of Europe’

Switzerland’s ninth largest city is about to become Europe’s first “bitcoin city”. In fact, we are talking about the deployment of the institutional blockchain 3Achain.

Tether Representative Paolo Ardoino and Lugano Mayor Michele Foletti announced a plan to transform the city into a European “capital of military-technical cooperation”. A detailed action plan “Plan B Lugano” will be announced by the parties at an online conference on March 3, 2022.

Mayor Foletti on Twitter declared:

“We are focusing on 3Achain, a technology that is more sustainable, shared and open to all. Blockchain is a new opportunity for everyone who looks to the future with interest.”

Skeptics criticizing the upcoming event and the prospects for the implementation of “Plan B Lugano”, draw attention to the fact that the participants in the process either do not fully own the issue, or deliberately confuse the popular concepts of “bitcoin” and “blockchain”.

The 3Achain project website says:

“There is a trend to associate blockchain technology with digital currencies such as Bitcoin and in general with the world of finance. In fact, it is used for a wide range of tasks such as traceability of a manufacturing process, certification of ownership, authenticity of a specific document, product, or acquired right. Right down to secure online voting and digital identity management.”

Thus, we are talking about the deployment on the basis of the city of Lugano of the project of non-commercial technology of the institutional blockchain 3Achain, working on the Proof-of-Authority algorithm.

A year earlier, Miami Mayor Francis Suarez took the initiative to make the city the “Crypto Capital of the World.”
