A Texas jury has acquitted David Fisher, the manager of Marathon Digital’s Granbury-area mining facility, of 12 noise-related violations.

According to complaints from about 40 local residents, Marathon Digital’s Texas facility was operating at a high noise level (over 85 decibels) that could cause hearing loss with prolonged or repeated exposure. Victims said the noise from fans used to cool the mining equipment created a loud, low-frequency hum. As a result, people living near the mining farm developed serious health problems, including heart problems, chest pain, migraines, nausea, and ringing in the ears.

David Fischer’s lawyers noted that the locals’ allegations were aimed at Fischer himself, not the cryptocurrency mining company. The defense also argued that the police data was inflated. And the noise emitted by Marathon Digital’s mining facility complies with regulatory standards, as it is a legal industrial site.

Marathon Digital management said that some politicians have also started “attacking” the data center to gain attention for their reelection. Therefore, Marathon Digital called the Texas court’s verdict fair and impartial. The company said that by the end of the year, it plans to replace most of its air-cooled containers with immersion cooling, where mining rigs are submerged in a special liquid that keeps them cool.

Marathon Digital Holdings recently launched a test project in Finland to heat residential buildings using heat energy generated by Bitcoin mining.
