Tezos’ latest update has integrated support for private transactions, thus creating a niche for DeFi applications.
Nomadic Labs, Marigold, DaiLambda and Metastate have announced a protocol update called “Edo” that introduces the Sapling and Tickets functionality to the blockchain platform.
The successful activation of Edo on Saturday marks the fifth and most ambitious #Tezos upgrade in the span of two years. Here is an overview of the path to Edo, from the first upgrade to yesterday’s.

A new Sapling option added by the Tezos development team allows for shielded (secure) transactions. On Tezos Sapling will allow “to vote or support asset transactions with selective disclosure.”
The update also includes Tickets, which make it easier to “create secure contracts”. This is essential for building decentralized finance (DeFi) applications that often interact with each other to generate high returns.
Developing DeFi-related applications will help increase the market value of your own token.
The fifth protocol update also adds a “Tezos update process adaptation period” to ensure a smooth transition to the latest software clients for bakers (stakers), indexers and other netizens.
The development team is currently working on the Florence update, which will be released in a few months. The previous update called Delphi took place three months ago.
Since the beginning of the year, the Tezos XTZ token has gained 190%, breaking the $ 4.5 level last Friday with a 22% gain per day.
