Tezos Ukraine to hold a $ 15,000 DeFi development hackathon

From 26 to 28 February Tezos Ukraine will hold an online hackathon on DeFi development #TezosDeFiHackathon

Registration will close on February 26 at 16:00 Moscow time. Individual members and teams are welcome to participate in #TezosDeFiHackathon. The hackathon prize fund is $ 15,000, and the maximum prize is $ 7,000.

According to the co-founder of Tezos Ukraine Sergey Vasilchuk, active participants will be able to continue developing their ideas, but with the grant support of the Tezos Foundation.

In addition, the winners will be introduced to the main organizations in the ecosystem: Tezos Foundation, TQ Tezos and Tezos Commons. And they will also write about the winners on Tezos social networks with 130,000 subscribers.

DeFi Hackathon

In February 2021, users blocked $ 40 billion in DeFi apps.

In the Tezos network, the number of calls to smart contracts in January increased 135 times compared to 2020. This means there are more DeFi applications on Tezos too.

At the same time, the Baking Bad team reports that the number of active Tezos users is growing by an average of 7.8% per month. In total, Tezos has 1 million accounts with a balance of more than 0 tez.

The organizers are holding a hackathon to create more useful DeFi products for the growing Tezos ecosystem.

Project directions for your own ideas:

  • ADM;

  • liquidity pools;

  • secured assets;

  • derivatives;

  • synthetic assets;

  • farming income.

Examples of challenges:

  • atomic swaps Tezos ⇔ Ethereum on L2;

  • DEX liquidity aggregator: QuipuSwap and Dexter;

  • a bridge between tokens on Ethereum (ERC20) and Tezos (FA2);

  • NFT marketplace;

  • a decentralized fund like MolochDAO;

  • DEX with order book and without AMM.

Developers from the Tezos ecosystem will act as mentors

Challenge authors are developers from MadFish Solutions and Baking Bad. They will become mentors at #TezosDeFiHackathon.

Baking Bad is being developed by TzKT blockchain explorer, Tezos Better Call Dev smart contract explorer and Atomex wallet. The team received grants from the Tezos Foundation to develop these solutions.

MadFish Solutions is the team that develops Thanos Wallet, QuipuSwap decentralized exchange and Solidity transpiler to Ligo Sol2Ligo. In addition, the MadFish Solutions developers won the first East European hackathon Tezos last year.

According to the CEO of the company, Matvey Sivoraksha, the team decided to continue developing solutions from the hackathon because they liked the functional programming style of Tezos.

Another mentor is the blockchain developer Attic Lab and lecturer of the course on the development of smart contracts at Tezos Mikhail Degtyarev. ForkLog was the media partner of the hackathon.
