Th. Plevris: About 800 additional Covid beds in the basin

For about 800 additional Covid beds in the basin as the GNA “Sismanogleio” will now be only for Covid incidents said the Minister of Health Thanos Plevris in an interview with the radio station ATHENS 9.84.

“According to the information we have so far, the” Omicron “hospitals are pushing us to simple hospital beds and not to the ICU, mainly in the basin,” the minister said, adding:

“So, at the moment we are trying to meet the need in Athens and in addition to the structures we have – because we have large public structures in Athens – private clinics give 10% to 15% of their beds, which translates into an additional 300-400 From all the large Clinics, horizontally, we get beds and with the smaller Clinics, which do not have the infrastructure to support such cases, we are in agreement to strengthen the National Health System with their staff, so that gaps are filled where Because we have a problem, which is manageable at the moment, with nursing staff who are ill. In addition, Sismanogleio Hospital will be made only for Covid cases, except for the special clinics it has. So with all this management, we actually manage to add another 700 to 800 Covid beds to the basin, in order to cover the increase in simple beds “.

He reiterated that, based on the data so far, we do not have a patient who has been intubated with “Omicron”, saying that this is encouraging. But, on the other hand, as he said, out of the approximately 650 imports that we have daily for coronavirus, a 30% -40% also concerns “Delta” cases, so from these imports we assume that we will have pressure on the ICU.

Regarding the shortages observed in specific medicines, the Minister of Health said that by Monday the problem will be solved. “The shortages, which are observed these days in specific medicines, are due to the activity of the supply chain. Because the drug stores were closed due to the New Year holidays and the Lights and there is a lot of consumption, there was a problem, but we have agreed and it will be solved immediately. The program will be normalized and by Monday there will be full power supply, there will be no problem “, he noted.

Concluding, Th. Plevris stressed:

“As important as it is for the unvaccinated to get the vaccine, it is just as important for the vaccinated to get the booster dose.”
