The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), responding to complaints from affected customers of the Zipmex crypto exchange, will analyze and evaluate the consequences of the company’s problems.
The SEC reports that a hotline has been opened to collect information from investors. People affected by the suspension of Zipmex withdrawals can submit information about their losses through an online form on the agency’s official website.
Due to the lack of reliable data at the disposal of the SEC, which led to the suspension of the withdrawal of funds, the regulator sent a request to Zipmex for a full explanation of all the details of the event. The company is required to provide data on client assets that have been deposited under the ZipUp program and invested in various platforms, especially troubled Celsius and Babel Finance.
Previously, the SEC of Thailand approached the exchange with a requirement to ensure transparent and efficient customer service. The regulator required Zipmex to collect full information when supporting operations, handling complaints and dealing with customer complaints.
On July 20, the CEO of major Thai crypto exchange Zipmex, Marcus Lim, said the exchange was suspending withdrawals, citing “a combination of circumstances” that the company had no control over, including “volatile market conditions.”
A day later, the site announced the resumption of deposits and withdrawals from 18:00 (GMT +7) on July 21. At the same time, trading operations with crypto assets remain unavailable until further notice from the company.
