Thai royal police have launched a police robot with artificial intelligence cameras detecting from suspects to possible weapons during Thai New Year Festival, Songkran.
Next to the Thai Royal Police, the provincial police and the municipality of Nakhon Pathom launched the “Ai Police Cyborg 1.0” (Cyborg Police 1.0 Artificial Intelligence in Portuguese), a police robot with AI cameras around the body.
Android is able to trigger drones that fly over the site and CCTV (Security System that monitors and record activities in a specific place) inside and around the event, according to the Thai Royal Police.
The human format robot also has a “video analysis” capacity, which integrates everything into the command and control center for occupational safety management.
According to the Thai royal police, the artificial intelligence system used in the cyborg has the following resources:
- Facial recognition that warns when a person who has an arrest warrant is detected
- Tracking of criminals or people suspected by the face throughout the event
- Intelligent advanced search system that seeks suspicious people through facial reading, physical description, clothing, body format and gender
- Detects weapons (except for water pistols) such as swords, knives, objects that can create some kind of danger at the event
- Checks behaviors that can lead to violent incidents, such as fights, physical abuse or gang fight
The Songkran festival, also called the Thai New Year, is a famous celebration in the country that attracts several people out of home to celebrate playing water on each other.
It is usually celebrated from April 13 to 15, but some cities can extend the festivities for a few more days.
