As a reason for the blocking, the regulator called the absence of an appropriate license. Access to the site of cryptocurrency exchanges will be limited by the Ministry of Digital Economy and the Company of the country (MDES).
The SEC specified that these are preventive measures aimed at protecting investors from fraud and strengthening the fight against money laundering. As the basis for blocking crypto platforms, the department called the law on the prevention of technological crimes, which has been valid on April 13, 2025.
The law gives MDES the right to block crypto -plots that do not have a license in Thailand. The regulator recommended that customers of the above exchanges withdraw their funds until June 28, and check the availability of licenses from service providers in the field of digital assets on the department’s website.
Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of Thailand approved the amendments to the laws on business in the field of digital assets and cybercrime. The amendments are designed to strengthen control over the activities of foreign crypto platforms P2P trade, as well as the accounts of “monetary mules” used to launder illegal income.
