Thanks to iPhones and more: TSMC will get $17 billion from Apple alone in 2022

TSMC is the largest chipmaker in the world, and Apple is its biggest customer. DigiTimes reports that TSMC will supply more than $17.07 billion worth of chips to Apple in 2022. This is 23% more than in 2021, when TSMC shipped $13.84 billion worth of products to Apple.

Deliveries of Apple new chips should begin in the first half of June. One of them will be the Apple A16 Bionic, which will be used with some of the models in the iPhone 14 line. Earlier, analysts Ming-Chi Kuo said that only the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will be built on the new 4nm A16 Bionic chipset. Non-professional options may end up staying on the A15 Bionic platform. Another option: these platforms will rename Apple A16 Pro and Apple A16 respectively.

TSMC recently announced that it will start shipping 3nm chips next year, with 2nm chips going on sale in 2026. Theoretically, the lower this technological node, the more transistors fit inside the chip, which makes it more productive and / or energy efficient.

For the first quarter of 2022, TSMC reported $491.08 billion in revenue on a net income of $202.73 billion. Profit margin was 41.3%.
