The 10 most beautiful parks in Europe

With the pandemic we have discovered proximity travel, or the beauties behind the house. And it’s a good thing in a world where people struggled to discover the most remote places on the planet, but to ignore how beautiful there was outside the front door. And this was one of the pleasant consequences of the pandemic. Another was to get closer to nature, a renaissance for the outdoors, being outdoors in unique naturalistic contexts, capable of reconciling the soul.

Today more than ever we have re-discovered nature, natural parks and the importance of their preservation.

With this spirit, the TripAdvisor portal has included for the first time in the rankings of Travellers’ Choice the prizes awarded by travelers the parks: the absolute favorite destinations of the year which are identified by the portal based on the number and type of reviews.

The ranking of 10 award-winning parks in Europe it’s a nice list, each of them would be worth a visit as soon as you can start traveling again. Many are concentrated mainly in England and Spain, but Italy also appears in the top ten, with the National Park of Cilento, the extensive portion of territory south of Campania that includes sea and mountains in a fascinating mix.

We were talking about the United Kingdom famous for its unspoiled countryside, lush forests and vast moors. The Yorkshire Dales National Park enchanted place for its luxuriant nature, where there is the longest single-jump waterfall in the North, the Hardraw Force, the limestone ravine of over 1.5 km known as Gordale Scar and the well-known hill chain of the Three Peaks or the three peaks. But there is also and the New Forest National Park, full of scenic views and wide trails to explore that wind through centuries-old woodlands.

Could not miss the very green Iceland with the Vatnajokull, the largest national park in Europe, home to blue ice caves, black sand beaches and lush green fields that give the impression of a fantasy adventure. The popular is also in the top ten Plitvice Lakes National Park, in Croatia Unesco world heritage site, near Zagreb, famous for its lakes with crystal clear turquoise waters.

Spain has three parks, with the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, Sierra Nevada National Park, the largest national park in the country, a paradise for outdoor activities and the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Park famous for its high walkways where you can take thrilling walks.

There is Turkey and Italy, we said, with the Natural Park of Cilento and Vallo di Diano which, in addition to the naturalistic wonders, boasts unique archaeological testimonies such as those of Paestum and Velia that date back to 550 BC. The park, established in 1991, has been part of the World Network of Biosphere reserves since 1997, the Man and Biosphere program of Unesco.
