Corriere published part of the statement the young man gave to the authorities, where he claimed: “I thought that by killing them I would live free.” The 17-year-old did not cite any specific incident for his decision, except that he did not want the control of his parents. Relatives and friends claimed that the parents were “exercising a formal control over their child”, on the grounds that “he was still a minor”.
