The watchword of the 64th edition of the Genoa International Boat Show is a “rebirth”, as evidenced by the significant increase in pre-sales. The credit goes above all to the exhibition facility, today among the most beautiful in the world, thanks to the impressive restyling of the exhibition area designed by Renzo Piano. Inaugurated 12 months ago, the works involved the Levante waterfront, docks and spaces revisited in a functional key, bringing another 5 thousand square meters on land, reaching a total exhibition surface of 220 thousand of which 85% outdoors, and an additional 100 berths. Not only that, also the redevelopment of the Sports Hall has played its part in this Genoese rebirth, always curated by the archistar, who plays at home in Genoa. Here too you can see his ‘hand’ that has transformed it into a brilliant walk from Piazzale Kennedy – the historic entrance to the Fair – to the sea side.
What will be at the Boat Show?
The numbers for the Show are impressive, with more than a thousand brands on display and 1,030 boats, in a seamless journey. In total, 220,000 square meters of land and water, with 85% outdoors and those 5,000 square meters more than in 2023. The number of foreign exhibitors is growing, to which over 100 new arrivals are added with 30 premieres. Nothing will be missing: from small sails to super yachts measuring thirty meters and over, with the possibility of seeing the best of Made in Italy, dreaming of being the owner of the Sanlorenzo SL 120A superyacht, the Y8 sailing yacht or the Bluegame BG75 motor catamaran – the flagships of their respective segments – but also trying out a pneumatic boat or a small open motor boat in the water. An event that celebrates Made in Italy and the global leadership in Italian superyacht production. A sector that in 2023, recorded +21% compared to the previous year, holding 51% of global orders: one in two boats in the world’s seas is Made in Italy.

Sustainability and design
The guides of the 64th Salone are sustainability and design. It is discussed in depth at Design Innovation Award and the World Yachting Sustainability Forum. The first event, now in its fifth edition, continues to promote excellence and thought by promoting all the products presented at the show and having them judged by an international jury, led by Maria Porro, president of the Salone del Mobile in Milan. The second, now in its third edition, is instead the round table in which the market takes stock of the challenges that the sector is facing to adopt increasingly sustainable strategies in production.
The program of the Genoa Boat Show 2024
The first day of the 2024 Boat Show will be inaugurated by the conference Politiche del Mare. Le nuove routes per la competitivita dell’Italia, le prospettive dell’industria nautico (Sea Policies. The new routes for Italy’s competitiveness, the prospects of the nautical industry), scheduled for 19 September, which will represent a fundamental moment of discussion to outline the future strategies of the sector. There will also be numerous events: from the Boating Economic Forecast which will present the latest update of the sector data, to the Nautica, Fisco e Dogane meeting and the National Conference of Nautical Tourism. There will also be Shaping The Future – World Yachting Sustainability Forum, the review organised by Confindustria Nautica in collaboration with International Boat Industry, which this year will focus on Life Cycle Assessment. The 2024 edition will also feature a new project: BITTA64, a book presentation programme. And, finally, the Design Innovation Awardborn with the aim of rewarding and promoting excellence in nautical design.
