Many of us have fallen in love, more than once, with a character on the big screen. Either because of their physique, their way of being or the way in which they try to show their love and interest for the protagonist, but on more than one occasion we have seen characters whose personality is somewhat unpleasant and make them the opposite of a leading man.
Foolish, superficial or just plain bad, there are many men on the big screen who, despite being painted as the romantic interest of the film, we really could not imagine being with someone similar, no matter how handsome or not. We show you the worst.
1. Daniel Cleaver en Bridget Jones
A womanizer who only got involved with Bridget like it was a game, only to ruin his chance to be happy with Mark twice!
2. Gale Hawthorne en The Hunger Games
He loved Katniss but constantly manipulated her for the common good of the rebellion regardless of the consequences or what she felt, he only thought of seeking revenge.
3. Kevin Doyle and 27 Dresses
He basically used Jane for his own benefit. The fact that he did not believe in love does not excuse him for having lied and manipulated the situation.
4. Dean Sampson en She’s All That
Laney shouldn’t have forgiven him, he’s selfish and superficial because he only noticed her after her physical appearance changed, as well as being a complete liar.
5. Ben and He’s Just Not That Into You
In the movie they try to justify Ben’s cheating because he has marital problems when in reality he is just an irresponsible liar who does not admit his mistakes.
6. Austin Ames in A Cinderella Story
Imagine being so superficial and self-centered that you cannot realize that the “simple” girl of every day is the one you say you are in love with so much.
7. Nate Cooper en The Devil Wears Prada
Much controversy exists about whether or not Andy should have tried to return with him, and the truth was not the best decision. He was not supportive of her and always judged her for seeking success.
8. Rhett Butler en Gone With The Wind
Womanizer, cynical and manipulative, he constantly mocks Scarlett and her way of being, also abuses his power over her to do what he wants without her consent.
9. George Wickham en Pride & Prejudice
Besides lying to everyone about Mr. Darcy, he also abused Lydia’s innocence and desperation to secretly marry her in exchange for money.
10. Kylo Ren en Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
He is the villain in the tapes in which he appears, but at the end of the second they make us believe that he was always in love with Rey despite having wanted to kill her and hundreds of other people.
11. Quentin Jacobsen and Paper Towns
Although he is the protagonist of the story, Quentin is the typical boy who falls in love for no reason and, let’s be honest, he did not care if Margo reciprocated or not.
12. Peter Kavinsky en To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before
Obsessed with his ex, manipulative and liar, he protected Gen at all costs without caring what Lara Jean thought or felt, in addition to getting jealous for anything.
13. Tom Hansen en 500 Days of Summer
Summer was not to blame for him falling in love, as much as they want to say it, she was clear from the beginning but he was selfish in believing that he could force her to change.
14. Christian Gray and Fifty Shades of Grey
Come on, we all know deep down that Christian is controlling, manipulative and bossy, he rarely cared about what Ana wanted or was thinking and constantly jealous of her for no reason.
15. Sebastian Valmont en Cruel Intentions
Yes, he saves Annette in the end, but that doesn’t eliminate the fact that he was self-centered, manipulative, liar and even morbid. Sebastian did everything for his own benefit.
16. Chris Wilton and Match Point
The representation of a lying bonkers, his obsession with money led him to do the impossible in order to have status and also used Nola as a sex toy.
17. Jerry Maguire in Jerry Maguire
He never paid attention to Dorothy until it suited him, and he always changed his mind and cared very little if he made her feel bad or not since he only thought about himself and his interests.
18. Jim Preston and Passengers
The older egotist. He literally sentenced Aurora to a horrible fate because he felt lonely and wanted company, their “falling in love” doesn’t alleviate or eliminate what he did.
19. Edward Cullen in Twilight
If you are one of those who already read Midnight SunYou will know that Edward thought on multiple occasions what would be the perfect way to kill Bella simply because her existence caused him conflict. And that he loved her.
20. Peeta Mellark in The Hunger Games
He didn’t have an ounce of personality, he was always forcing his fictional romance to be closer to Katniss even though she had a thousand problems to deal with.
21. Peter Bretter en Forgetting Sarah Marshall
Crybaby and with nothing to contribute, he literally used Rachel to try to forget his ex and when it didn’t work, he soon ran back into Sarah’s arms without caring about anything or anyone.
22. Ben Stone and Knocked Up
Why do they want us to believe it was good? Irresponsible, immature, jerk and unattractive, to date we do not understand how it is possible that Alison gave him a chance.
23 Laird Mayhew en Why Him?
The fact that he has millions does not mean that he was the living representation of a man with the personality of a spoiled child, no matter how attractive he is.
24. Peter Parker en Spider-Man
Another with zero personality, although it is not a romantic film, Peter was always too sensitive and many times he manipulated the situation to attract Mary Jane.
25. Thomas Bailey in Made Of Honor
The typical one who does not know what he wants until he sees everything lost. Thomas loved Hannah until the moment when she was happy with someone much better than him.
