The 26.3 million euros of the EU’s crisis reserve in the horticultural and viticultural sector

The 26.3 million euros from the reserve fund of the European Union will be directed to the producers of fruit and vegetables and the wine sector, as stated in a ministerial decision signed by the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Giorgos Georgantas.

The amount of 26,298,105 euros will be granted as a support measure for producers, due to the war in Ukraine and was allocated to our country from the Commission’s crisis reserve.

According to the ministerial decision, beneficiaries of the emergency aid are those who meet the following eligibility conditions based on the Single Aid Application (EAA) of 2022:

A. Fruit and vegetable sector

– The members of the Producer Organizations of the Fruit and Vegetables sector that implement environmental actions, in the “Environment” objective in the Operational Program of the year 2022.

– With regard to the eligibility of the lands, the lands of the fruit and vegetable sector that have been declared in the 2022 IACS by the producer members of the Producer Organizations that implement actions in the Environment objective in the Operational Program of the year 2022 are considered eligible.

B. Viticulture Sector

– Owners of vineyards with headquarters and vineyard plots located on the islands of the Aegean and Ionian Seas of the annex to this decision. The eligible lands of said beneficiaries must cumulatively meet the following conditions:

a) are planted with wine-making grape varieties classified according to no. 2919/95506/2017 Ministerial Decision “Classification of wine-making grape varieties and raisin varieties” (Β΄3276/18.09.2017), as applicable,

b) are registered in the Viticultural Register,

Organic farmers with wine-making grape varieties that apply the organic farming system and are included in the register of organic farmers kept at the Ministry of Agriculture. The eligible lands of said beneficiaries must also cumulatively meet the conditions a) and b) of point B1.

Producers of the wine sector, who, for the same eligible areas, fall under more than one of the sub-appr. B1 and B2, they become beneficiaries of the emergency aid only once.

Non-members of Producer Organizations in the Fruit and Vegetable sector who cultivate table grapes, Corinthian raisins and dry sultanas for the lands included in the register of organic growers maintained at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The amount of the aid

The amount of aid per beneficiary is calculated by dividing the total amount of 26,298,105 euros by the total determined eligible area (acres) and multiplying this by the number of eligible areas of each beneficiary, as this results after the completion of the prescribed controls and are reflected in a decision of the president of OPEKEPE, which states the unit value of the aid per eligible acre.
